Religare Enterprises has signed a definitive pact to buy stake in Californiabased Northgate Capital, a private equity investment firm. The deal marks Religare’s big-bang entry into the fund-of-funds business. Religare already manages a couple of PE funds in India. Religare Board has agreed to make a commitment of USD 1 billion for strategic investments in diversified asset management businesses globally.

Edserv Softsystems Ltd is acquiring SchoolMate, a Hyderabad-based firm offering customer relationship management (CRM) and enterprise resource
planning for educational institutes, for an undisclosed sum. SchoolMate runs a mobile application through text messages and e-mails to inform parents about the progress of their children. It currently has association with over 68 educational institutions in Hyderabad and Vishakapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
